My Balloon Burst: Pants Are Overrated

happinessonpages:

Swimming taught me to love my body. It taught me that it doesn’t matter if I’m as skinny as I want or the shape I want, but that my body is capable of performing miracles. Through an eating disorder, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, and bad asthma, I’ve been able to push through and keep trying until I proved to myself how capable I am. Today I was able to run a 5k with only stopping once for my asthma, but for nothing else. Which sounds little, but was a huge accomplishment for me and my setbacks. My coach’s words kept popping up in my brain saying, ‘When you’re at your weakest, that’s when you need to push the hardest’. I’m proud of myself, the progress I’ve made, and the choice I made to swim, which taught me unforgettable and life-changing lessons.
